Tenants Handbook

Your Rights and Responsibilities

All Tenants sign a Tenancy Agreement. This document should be kept in a safe place as it is an important legal document.

The Tenancy Agreement is the contract between MHA and the Tenant under which MHA agrees to provide accommodation for you and keep it in good repair in exchange for rent from you and your undertaking to use the premises in a reasonable manner.

This section only summarises the main provisions such as Security of Tenure; Eviction; Abandonment; Succession; Assignation; lodgers; pets; alterations; the right to buy. For a fuller explanation of each point you should refer to your Tenancy Agreement.

MHA staff are available to give further advice and guidance on any aspect of your Tenancy Agreement.
