Bin-Strike Throughout Edinburgh from 18th – 30th August 2022
A bin collection strike is taking place throughout Edinburgh. It will run from Thursday 18th – Tuesday 30th August 2022. Strike Disruption Poster
We appreciate that this strike has the potential to cause problems regarding disposing rubbish within Muirhouse. Please continue to use your allocated bins for as long as possible. If/when all the bins in your street become full, only then seek out another suitable bin to use nearby. Also, please read the formal information that Edinburgh Council has released. You can do this by using the three links in this page. Unfortunately, we have absolutely no control over this situation. Edinburgh Council only informed us about the strike late in the day on Wednesday 17th August.
Edinburgh Council could settle the strike before the stated 12 days. We hope that this happens. However, for now, we must proceed on the information given to us. That is that the strike will last until 30th August unless we are told otherwise. It is a bad enough situation to have bins overflowing with rubbish uncollected for 12 days. We must avoid the potential situation where rubbish is dumped in streets. When we receive any updates on the situation, we will inform you immediately both on the website and on our social media pages.
To find out how you will be affected, and what you can do, please visit www.edinburgh.gov.uk/binstrike
We have more information to share with you from Edinburgh Council. We received this on Tuesday 23rd August and it relates to the on-going bin-strike. You can read this information, Edinburgh Council’s ongoing bin-strike FAQs, here: – Strike FAQs
